Once upon a time there was a little boy called Bruno.

He was the happiest boy in the world. Until both his parents fell very ill. Then one day they passed away from a terrible disease called cancer. It was terrible because there were not any other relatives that could take him in. So he got sent to the orphanage.

When his parents died he was three years old, now he was five when finally a couple came to the orphanage and picked him "We will take this boy" Hans said. (Bruno’s new father) "I agree," said Estrada. (Bruno’s new mother).

So they signed the adoption papers and took Bruno home. Hans and Estrada lived in a wondrous place but Bruno’s experience with them wasn’t wondrous. They treated him like vermin. They made him do all the house work like dusting, sweeping and wiping the floor and to make it worse they gave him food once a week! He always felt like running away and back to the orphanage where people understood him. But alas he was too young to survive outside his parents house. After all he was only five years old.

He lived like this for five whole years. Then when he turned ten he was fed up of this, he decided he was going to run away. But it would be hard for him because he would have to steal some pounds from his parents wallet because they never gave him allowance money.

Also, because they only gave him food once a week he couldn’t have the energy to walk all the way back to the orphanage, the money would help him take a bus.

To do this he would need to make a plan, first steal some money second get a bus back to the orphanage and third make up an identity because the orphanage knows that five years ago Bruno was taken by Hans and Estrada and lastly get adopted by newer good kind hearted parents.

So he stole some pounds, he took a bus and changed his name to Bradly. Luckily the orphanage accepted him. But he knew he wouldn’t be in the arms of good parents in one day, he had to wait. Now back to Hans and Estrada. They didn’t miss Bruno at all. They thought their troubles were gone because Bruno was gone.

But Bruno didn’t miss his parents either.

It had been a year and Bruno was now eleven, then one day Elizabeth and Daniel came by. They came every year to find a child that was right for them but they never could. They were about to leave when Elizabeth spotted Bruno. Then she told Daniel “Daniel look! Isn’t he beautiful?’’

“Wow!" Daniel thought.

They both looked at Bruno with so much affection in their eyes Bruno came to them. So they went back to the reception and said we want him. “ Ok ‘’ the receptionist said. This is Bradly. They signed the adoption papers immediately and took him home.

Their house wasn’t as pretty as Hans and Estrada’s, but he loved his new parents much more than his old ones. But he was upset about one thing. His parents kept calling him Bradly. His name was Bruno, not Bradly.

So one day at dinner he got up his courage and told his parents the truth. "My name is Bruno, not Bradly. I told that to the orphanage because I was taken out of the orphanage before, but I didn’t like my parents. So, I came back to the orphanage to find new better parents like you," he confessed.

After hearing this, they both said “We hope you never want to go back to the orphanage when you are with us.

"I don’t think I’ll want to." said Bruno with a smile.

The End

One late night I had gone out with my parents and we can gone out for some popcorn chicken from the airport. My dad went out to get it, while my mom and I sat in the car.

He was out for at least an hour! I got terribly bored, but when he came back, he got me the best gift off all, my big sister who lived in London! I never get to see her! I was overjoyed to see her we each ran up to each other but my Mani (Nia Didi’s mom) said that they had flight clothes on and we shouldn't hug. By the way, my big sister’s actual name is Noyonika Kochhar but Noyonika is very long so everyone calls her Nia - her parents, school, friends even me.

They got booked into a hotel and we had to wait for them to shower. That night I stayed up till 5:30 AM! The next day, I was pumped she was coming to my house and then living with me!!

I was still in my vacation after graduating from Grade 1 to Grade 2. We had loads of fun! We made my playroom into our den. Sometimes, we would go to the garden and Nia Didi an I would play for 2 hours!

But right as my school was starting, Nia Didi had to go. I was really upset. (I was kind of relieved, because she threatened to embarrass me in front of my friends!)

But guess what, a week later, me and my mom went to Kolkata and that was where Nia Didi had gone!

Then we moved back to Mumbai. When we came back, my dad had set up loot boxes for us!!! Me and Nia Didi would trade candy. Our candy lasted for days.

Nia Didi stayed in Mumbai for 3 weeks in all those 3 weeks, each week she’d do something different to play with me. I would always introduce my friends to Nia Didi. Sadly she had to leave.

What we can learn from this is you don’t need everything to be perfect to have fun! All you need is family and friends.

Daffodils

Daffodils

by

Inaya Sinha

A golden flower in the wind and sky…

It makes me feel so joyful I could cry…

The song of nature will never end…

Its something for eternity, a great friend…

It never leaves you standing sad..

And never ever gets mad…

At or you or me…

They’re with us for eternity!

They’re as soft as a feather…

I named one of them Heather…

I summon one of them and they come flying through the air…

It’s as fun as being at a county fair!

They can accompany you in a dance…

They put you under a magic trance!

They slobber through a nice smell…

Their arrival is like a huge bell!

The story behind Daffodils:

My big sister and her mom were visiting, my big sisters name is Nia Didi and her moms name is Mani. One morning, she told us (me and Nia Didi) to write a diary-entry. Nia Didi wrote a diary-entry while I wrote this poem. It is inspired by William Wordsworth's poem, Daffodils. I just wrote my own version of it!
